Itinerary overview
01Day 1Nairobi to Samburu
You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or residence in the morning and depart for Samburu National Reserve, driving north through the scenic highlands of Nyeri and Nanyuki with views of Mt Kenya. The drive takes approximately 5-6 hours. On arrival at your camp or lodge, you will be shown to your rooms and have lunch. In the afternoon, depart for game drives in search of the "Samburu Special Five": Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. The reserve's rugged beauty along the Ewaso Ng'iro River provides stunning backdrops. Return at dusk for dinner and overnight. 02Day 2Full Day Samburu
Early morning game drive beginning at 0630hrs when wildlife is most active. Return to camp for breakfast at 0900hrs. Mid-morning at leisure to enjoy camp facilities or simply relax by the pool overlooking the river. After lunch at 1300hrs, depart for another afternoon game drive exploring different areas of the reserve. The dramatic backdrop of Ololokwe Table Mountain provides stunning photographic opportunities as the sun begins to set. Return at dusk for dinner and overnight. 03Day 3Samburu to Masai Mara
Breakfast at camp, then depart for Masai Mara via Nairobi. The journey takes approximately 7-8 hours including a lunch stop in Nairobi. The drive descends through the Great Rift Valley with spectacular scenery. Arrive at your camp in Masai Mara in the late afternoon, check in, and enjoy a short evening game drive before dinner. 04Day 4Full Day Masai Mara
Breakfast at the camp, after which you will depart with packed lunches for full-day game drives in the Masai Mara National Reserve. On this day, you will have a chance to visit the Mara River, which is the site for the famous wildebeest migration dubbed the 8th Wonder of the World. You will have lunch at a picnic site before continuing with further exploration of the wild to see more wildlife on your checklist. Return to the camp in the evening for dinner. 05Day 5Full Day Masai Mara
Early morning game drive, returning to camp for breakfast. The mid-day hours are at leisure to relax at the camp, perhaps by the pool or with a book on your private veranda. After lunch at 1300hrs, depart for another afternoon game drive exploring different areas of the reserve. Optional activities such as a balloon safari (extra cost) can be arranged for this morning. 06Day 6Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru
Breakfast at the camp, then depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive takes approximately 5-6 hours through the Great Rift Valley with scenic stops. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru, renowned for its flamingo populations and rhino sanctuary. You will have the opportunity to explore the lakeside with a significant population of lesser flamingos, as well as white and black rhinos. Keep an eye out for the tree-climbing lions that sometimes lounge in the acacia trees. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. 07Day 7Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
Breakfast at the lodge, then depart for Lake Naivasha. The drive takes approximately 2-3 hours through the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Arrive at your resort in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on the freshwater lake to explore its rich diversity, viewing hippos and countless bird species. This is followed by a guided walk on Crescent Island Sanctuary, where you walk among free-roaming wildlife including giraffes, zebras, and antelopes. The sanctuary offers unique walking safari experience. Return to the resort for dinner and overnight. 08Day 8Lake Naivasha to Nairobi
